Uncle Bruce, a proud Batjala man and founder of Murri Tukka, invites you to discover the richness of Australian native bushfoods in this immersive and welcoming session.
More than just food, bushfoods carry stories, cultural protocols, and a deep connection to Country. Uncle Bruce will share how foraging and harvesting are guided by respect for land and ancestors, and why caring for Country ensures these plants continue to nourish future generations.
Guests will taste bushfoods that are delicious, healthy, and full of cultural significance. You’ll learn how native ingredients not only enhance our meals, but also support wellbeing while connecting us spiritually to the land they come from.
Ever wondered which native plants you can eat — and what they taste like? Uncle Bruce will introduce bushfoods of the local area, how they’ve been used for thousands of years, and how we can all appreciate and use them today.
Best of all, after the workshop you’ll have the chance to select bushfood plants directly from the nursery to purchase and grow at home — bringing the flavours and knowledge of Country into your own backyard.
Whether you’re curious about growing bushfoods, adding new flavours to your cooking, or simply learning more about the environment around you, this workshop is the perfect place to start.
