Amelia Hughes is a proud 15-year-old with ancestral ties to the Guwa/Koa, Gundungara, Yuin, and Dharawal peoples. Born on Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi Country and now living on Jinibara Country, Amelia brings big heart and beautiful energy to the GATHAA Jarjums Tent.
A passionate learner and student at Glasshouse Christian College, Amelia shines in all areas of school life – especially in Art, Music, Science, Maths, and Writing. She plays violin and viola, sings in school choirs, and performs regularly in orchestras and ensembles. Music is a big part of her life – you’ll often find her playing violin by the creek near her home, joined by birdsong.
Amelia is also a proud community contributor. Each year, she performs music and poetry for ANZAC and Remembrance Day ceremonies in honour of those who served. While she’s been part of GATHAA since the very beginning, this year marks her first time performing – a moment she holds close and is honoured to share with community.
