BUSHFOOD YARN AND COOK UP with AUNTY DALE CHAPMAN
Following the Bushfood Nursery Walk & Talk with Josie Cox, pull up close for a bushfood yarn and live cook-up with the Bushfood Queen herself, Aunty Dale Chapman from My Dilly Bag.
This session is centred on storytelling, flavour and food. Aunty Dale will cook in real time while sharing her lived experience, cultural knowledge and love of bushfoods, showing how native ingredients can be used in everyday meals. Bunya will be a feature of the cook-up, with Aunty Dale yarning about its significance and demonstrating practical ways it can be prepared and enjoyed.
As part of the session, participants will have the opportunity to sample the dishes prepared during the cook-up, as well as enjoy My Dilly Bag tastings. A range of bushfood products will be available to taste and purchase on the day, offering a chance to explore flavours and take ideas home to your own kitchen. Participants can also purchase native bushfood plants from the Mooloolah River Landcare Bush Nursery to grow at home.
This cook-up brings the journey from plant to plate together, rounding out a full day of learning, tasting and celebrating bushfoods at the GATHAA First Nations Bushfood Lovers Market.
