NEXT GEN - VAAN AVERY

NEXT GEN - VAAN AVERY

Vaan Avery is a First Nations singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and young radio host who, at just 12 years old, is already finding his voice both on stage and behind the mic.

Growing up in a musical family, Vaan has developed his skills across vocals, piano, drums and ukulele, performing at youth festivals, NAIDOC celebrations and school events across Australia. He also hosts his own radio program, building his confidence in broadcasting and connecting with audiences through music.

Influenced by The Beatles, Djo, Sombre and Vance Joy, Vaan is developing his own voice as a songwriter. His original songs “What Comes Next” and “Made for This” explore his experiences as a young Aboriginal boy — connecting to Country and community, finding where he belongs, being seen and navigating walking in two worlds.

At the GATHAA Next Gen Market & Youth Showcase, Vaan takes to the stage to share his original music and perform alongside other emerging young First Nations artists and experienced mentors.

Through songwriting, performing and broadcasting, Vaan is building his skills across different creative spaces while finding his own way to tell stories and connect with audiences.

GATHAA Next Gen is proud to give young artists such as Vaan a stage to share their voice, build experience and show community what the next generation can do. 👣
