NEXT GEN - CLARE'S CRAFTY CORNER

NEXT GEN - CLARE'S CRAFTY CORNER

Meet Clare, a 12-year-old Yorta Yorta and Wamba Wamba young person currently living on Githabul Country in South East Queensland.

Clare loves being creative and making things with her hands. Through Clare’s Crafty Corner, she is turning that creativity into her own little enterprise, creating handmade clay magnets, keyrings, slime and other colourful crafty creations.

Her creativity extends beyond craft too. Clare recently took out first prize in the 12-and-under bush poetry competition at the Ekka — another wonderful outlet for sharing her ideas and imagination.

Away from creating, Clare is a big animal lover, with goats, chickens, dogs, fish and a bird keeping her busy at home.

Clare joined the GATHAA Next Gen Market & Youth Showcase to share her creations, connect with culture, meet other young people and experience what it’s like to have her own market stall — with earning a little pocket money along the way being a pretty good bonus.

The GATHAA Next Gen Market gives young First Nations creatives, makers, performers and budding entrepreneurs a space to have a go, build confidence, learn new skills and connect with other young people and experienced First Nations artists and business owners.

Clare is one of the deadly young people stepping forward and giving business, creativity and community a go through GATHAA Next Gen.
