NEXT GEN - AKAIRAH
At just 11 years old, Akairah is already building her path as a young singer, actor and musician.
A proud Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander young person, with family connections to Erub/Darnley Island, Akairah has loved singing and creating music since she was a toddler.
Her talent has already been recognised, with Akairah recently taking out Murris Got Talent at the Sunshine Coast NAIDOC Family Funday.
Drawn to soul, pop and R&B, Akairah says performing brings her joy and helps her feel grounded and connected to the people around her. Her family and community are a strong source of inspiration, encouraging her to chase her dreams and keep going.
Away from music, Akairah loves spending time at the skate park — and she’s a pretty big fan of cats too.
Akairah joined the GATHAA Next Gen Market & Youth Showcase to connect with culture and community, gain more live performance experience and share something she genuinely loves doing.
Taking her place on the Next Gen stage gives Akairah another opportunity to develop her confidence, grow as a performer and connect with other First Nations artists and mentors as she continues exploring where her creativity and music might take her next.
